Software License

License summary: Trade Journal is licensed, not sold. The original purchaser receives a personal-use license. Redistribution, resale, repackaging, rebranding and sharing copies with unlicensed users are prohibited.

1. License grant

Trade Journal grants the original purchaser a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable personal license to use the software on devices they personally own or control. The purchaser may keep reasonable personal backup copies.

2. Ownership

The purchase gives you permission to use Trade Journal. It does not transfer ownership of the software, source code, design, documentation, branding, original educational content or other intellectual property. All rights not specifically granted are reserved.

3. Personal use

You may use Trade Journal for your own record-keeping, review, analysis and education; move your licensed copy between your own devices; export and back up your own journal data; and modify your personal copy for private use. Personal modification does not give permission to distribute the modified version.

4. Prohibited uses

You may not sell, resell, redistribute, give copies to unlicensed users, sublicense, rent, publicly upload, repackage, rebrand, white-label, commercially distribute, sell modified copies, claim authorship of Trade Journal, or remove ownership notices for the purpose of redistribution without written permission.

5. Source code and HTML

Trade Journal may be supplied in files whose contents can be viewed or inspected. The technical ability to view, copy, inspect or modify those files does not transfer ownership. You may inspect or modify your personal licensed copy, but you may not use source access to create, distribute, sell or commercially exploit unauthorized copies or substantially reproduced versions.

6. Your data

Your trading records, notes, watchlists, screenshots, settings, imported broker information and backup files remain your data. Trade Journal does not claim ownership of your personal trading records.

7. Local storage and backups

Trade Journal is designed primarily as a local application. You are responsible for maintaining backups. Data may be lost because of local storage clearing, device failure, file deletion, operating-system/browser changes, device replacement, user error or other circumstances outside Trade Journal's control.

8. Broker imports

Trade Journal is not affiliated with supported brokers merely because their report formats may be compatible. Third-party broker names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Broker formats may change and permanent compatibility is not guaranteed.

9. Trading and financial disclaimer

Trade Journal is a trading-journal, record-keeping, educational and analytics tool. It does not place trades, send orders, manage funds, guarantee profits, predict future performance or provide personalized investment, financial, tax, accounting or legal advice. Calculations and historical analytics are informational outputs, not instructions to buy, sell or hold any financial instrument.

10. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Trade Journal is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that it will be completely error-free, work on every device, remain compatible with every future environment or broker report, or prevent every form of local data loss.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Trade Journal and its operator will not be responsible for trading losses, investment losses, lost profits, lost opportunities, lost local data, business interruption, incorrect imports, user input errors or decisions made using software outputs. Nothing here excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Updates

Trade Journal may receive updates, fixes or improvements. Unless separately promised as part of the purchase, the license does not guarantee lifetime updates, lifetime support, future features or permanent compatibility with future systems or broker formats.

13. Termination

The license may terminate if you materially violate these terms. If terminated for a material violation, you must stop unauthorized use or distribution and remove unauthorized copies under your control.

14. Refunds and applicable law

Refund eligibility is governed by the Refund Policy presented at the time of purchase. Nothing in this license removes consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

15. Complete license file

The purchased package includes LICENSE.md, which contains the full software-license terms for the supplied release. Keep the license file with your Trade Journal package.
